Concept introduction: Large intestine, also called colon or large bowel is an organ mainly that helps or facilitates the uptake of salt and water molecules from the food waste solid material before they get removed from the body. The four main parts of this organ are cecum, colon (ascending, transverse, descending), rectum, and anus.
