Summary Introduction
To differentiate: Between primary and secondary growth.
Concept introduction: In plants, the growth is throughout their whole life. This is due to the presence of meristems. These meristematic cells divide continuously and lead to the formation of new cells, which are further elongated and differentiated. The two mechanisms by which woody plants increase its size are primary growth and secondary growth.
