Concept introduction:

Ectotherms are organisms in which the internal physiological sources of heat are small or negligible. They regulate their body temperature by exchanging heat from their surroundings. They are called as cold-blooded animals and this process is called as ectothermy.

Endotherms are organisms that can maintain their body at metabolically favorable temperature. They are called as warm-blooded animals. They do not depend on environmental temperature and this process is called endothermy.
