Concept explainers
(a)
Interpretation::
If milk turns sour, this should be classified as a chemical change or physical change.
Concept Introduction:
In the physical change, the material or substance will not change its chemical identity only changes its physical state like solid into liquid or liquid into gas. For example, water changes its physical sate when ice melts into water.
In the chemical change, the material or substance will change its chemical identity means there is a new substance formed by the formation heat, energy or gas. For example: hydrogen and oxygen react to form water which is a new substance.
(b)
Interpretation::
If wax is melted over a flame catches fire and burns is a chemical change or physical change should be determined.
