Chapter 32, Problem 14TYPSS
Summary Introduction

To review:

Koch’s postulates and design a study to use Koch’s postulates to test the hypothesis that chytrid infections are responsible for the frog deaths.

Introduction:

Chytrids are zoosporic fungi that cause chytridiomycosis in amphibians. The chytrids are responsible for massive die-offs occurring in amphibians. Koch’s postulates state that the microorganism must be present in all the diseased individuals, but it must be absent in the healthy organism. Koch’s postulates can be used to test the hypothesis that frog death are caused by chytrid infection.
