Chapter 31.4, Problem 3CC
Summary Introduction

To propose:

A hypothesis explaining why a population of plants growing in a breezy location is more prone to herbivory by  insects than the population of same species of plants growing in shelter.

Concept introduction:

Over the course of evolution, plants have developed elaborate mechanisms to protect themselves from herbivory. This includes chemical defense (release of toxiccompounds like lignins, cannabinoids and more), mechanical defense (thorns, resins and so on), indirect defense (attracting the enemies of the herbivores), camouflaging, mimicry and leaf shedding and colour.
