Summary Introduction
Hantavirus is a single stranded RNA virus which infects mostly rodents like rats, mice, lemmings and voles but it does not cause diseases in them. The rodents behave as a vector by which it gets transferred to the humans and causes infection. Hantavirus falls in the category of Bio safety level-4 (BSL-4) pathogens which is the highest level of bio safety according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States.
