Chapter 3.11, Problem 78AYP
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The five hypotheses that explain the process of aging.
Introduction:
The cell division and cell death work collaboratively to maintain the normal physiological functioning of a multicellular organism. The cell division works to increase the number and size of cells for different organs and tissues. However, cell death eliminates the cells that are old or do not possess normal cell functioning. The cell division and cell death are highly regulated and dependent on several key enzymes and protein complexes.

They studied the healthy twin (Beth) to see if they could learn anything about her sisters disease from studying her. They were raised in the same house until they went to different colleges (Beth stayed in London and Mary lived along the coast line in a farm town in France). They were both mostly healthy throughout their childhood although Mary had a very sensitive stomach and suffered from allergies. Through the use of questionarres, stool samples and genetic samples the researchers learned so much about the two sisters, including that Beth was born vaginally but Mary was born by C- section because their mom was to…arrow_forwardDefine growth and development.
