The differences in the two types of the cell that might explain the observation that in humans certain types of cells (neurons) are less likely to regenerate after injury than other types (skin).
Introduction:
Skin is the largest organ present in the human body. It has important role in protection of body from the external environment. The skin and blood plays an important role in regulation of body temperature. It contains sebaceous glands that secrete sebum to inhibit pathogenic growth. Nerve cells are the main part of peripheral and central nervous system. They are involved in integration, coordination and transmission of signals from brain to body and from body to brain. A nerve cell is comprised of axon, dendrite and a cell body. The most sensitive portion of axons is “terminal growth cones”.
