Introduction: A thin membrane that forms the outer surface of the cytoplasm of a cell is referred to as a cell membrane or plasma membrane. It is made up of lipids and proteins, and often possesses molecular receptors or channels. It is selectively permeable to organic molecules and ions, and is involved in regulating the passage of substances in and out of the cells.
