Introduction:

Color blindness is in reality a color vision deficiency of distinguishing the color difference. An red-green color blind individual has trouble differentiating in shades of red, yellow, and green colors.

It is an X-linked recessive disorder; the trait is passed from a mother to a son. A gene on the X chromosome governs the color vision with two alleles- (XN- normal, Xn- red-green color blindness). Females are generally heterozygous (XN Xn) for the trait while most often males are affected (XnY) with it. Females are only affected when both the parents pass on the mutated allele (Xn Xn).
