Concept explainers
A trial balance is the list of all the ledger accounts. The trial balance is prepared to check the total balance of the debit with the total of the balance of the credit, which must be equal. The trial balances are usually prepared to check accuracy. In trial balance, the debit balances are listed in the left column and credit balances are listed in the right column.
Normal balance:
When an account shows balance on the left side of the account, it has a normal debit balance. Similarly, when an account shows balance on the right side of the account, it has a normal credit balance. Usually, all asset accounts have normal debit balance and all the liabilities accounts have normal credit balance.
