Chapter 3, Problem 17P
Summary Introduction

To determine: The order in which the three given peptides would elute out from a column filled with cation-exchange polymer.

Introduction:

In ion-exchange chromatography, polar molecules or ions are separated on the basis of their affinity to the ion exchanger. Proteins, amino acids, and small nucleotides can be separated with the help of ion exchange chromatography. Ion exchange chromatography is of two types; cation-exchange chromatography and anion-exchange chromatography. Cation-exchange chromatography is used when the molecule to be separated is positively charged.
