Introduction:

The carrot plant comes under the umbellifer family Apiaceae. Carrot is usually found in orange, purple, white and yellow color, it is also termed as root vegetable. Taproot is the most common edible part of the carrot. The root of carrot contains alpha as well as beta carotene. Carotene is a main source of vitamin B6 and vitamin K.

As carrot is a biennial plant that grows leaves rosette in the summer and spring season too. However the taproot of the carrot stores sugars in a huge amount. In the second year stout taproot formation occurs. Thus this plant forms flower in the second year.
