Summary Introduction

Introduction: Angiosperms are that plants that have flowers and produce seeds that are enclosed within a carpel. The life cycle of all plants includes haploid and diploid generation. In angiosperms, the structure specific to sexual reproduction is the shoot called as flower. The anther part of the flower contains pollen grains, and each produces the two sperms. The female gametophyte (embryo sac) develops into the ovule. After pollination, the pollen grain germinates on the stigma and divides to form two sperms. This passes through the pollen tube. One sperm fertilizes the egg forming the diploid zygote. Another sperm fertilizes the central diploid cell of the embryo sac that gives rise to a food-storing tissue called as the endosperm.
