Concept introduction:
The changes in the resting potential of neuron due to certain stimulus cause the opening of ion channels, which result in the generation of an action potential. These changes occur in the axon part of neurons which is known as trigger zone as it triggers or starts the nerve impulse from the location of action potential through the whole length of an axon. The stimulus activates the neuron and generates the action potential. Yet, the stimulus must be strong enough that can cross the threshold level of a cell to start an action potential.
