Concept introduction:

The chemoreceptors in the nose are used to detect the odor of the molecules by the special olfactory system of the body which is used for the sense of smell. The olfactory neurons are found in the patches of the epithelium of the olfactory cells in the nasal cavity. These olfactory receptors transduce the chemical inputs in the form of the receptor potential to the central nervous system.
