How do the frequencies of infrared and ultraviolet light compare?
The ways of comparison in frequencies of infrared and ultraviolet light.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction: Infrared rays and ultraviolet rays are part of electromagnetic spectrum.
As the name itself suggest that infrared radiations lies below the red light wavelength, therefore its wavelength is more than red light wavelength and hence frequency of radiation decreases. Similarly, ultraviolet radiations lie above the violet color, therefore its wavelength is now less than that of violet light and hence frequency of radiation increases. Further adding to this infrared radiation have higher heating effect than the ultraviolet radiation.
Conclusion: Frequency of infrared and ultraviolet light are compared using electromagnetic spectrum.
