Concept explainers
Are the wavelengths of radio and television signals longer or shorter than waves detectable by the human eye?
Whether the wavelength of radio and television signals is longer or shorter than visible waves.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Each type of wave in electromagnetic spectrum has a specific range of wavelength.
Electromagnetic waves have different wavelengths. The electromagnetic spectrum consists of seven waves such as radio waves, ultraviolet waves, microwaves, infrared waves, visible light, gamma waves, x-rays.
The frequency of radio waves is smallest and hence has the longest wavelength in the whole spectrum. Therefore, the wavelength of the radio and television signals is longer than visible waves.
Conclusion:
The wavelength of visible radiations is much smaller than the radio and television waves.
