Viruses are non-living particles. They are made of lipid cores, protein, and contain either RNA or DNA. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), is an enveloped virus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It is a retrovirus (contains RNA) that belongs to the genus Lentivirus.
