Summary Introduction

To determine: The group of unikonts that is structurally and genetically most similar to animals.

Introduction: Unikont is a broad group of organisms consisting of different species that have a common feature which is the presence of a flagellum that is present at a posterior position in their flagellated cells. Some of the organisms that come under this group are: slime molds (cellular as well as plasmodial), choanoflagellates, fungi amoebas, and animals.
