Summary Introduction

To state: The two ways by which oxygen supplies to the brain may increase during a stress response.

Concept introduction: Stress is a biological response to a stressor such as environmental conditions, threat, challenge, or other psychological and physical barrier. The stressor may be physical or psychological or it can be a combination of both. The autonomic nervous system and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis are the major systems that respond to stress.
