Introduction:

Different microbial communities form a different kind of structure and remain together in a close proximity. Some form layers in sediments, while others form small or large clumps. Some form a dense film around or on a surface, which is generally known as a biofilm. In this structure, the organisms remain bound in a polysaccharide matrix.
