Introduction:
Hagfishes belong to the group Chordata. Chordates are the animals that have specific characteristics, namely a dorsal nerve chord, presence of a notochord, pharyngeal gill and post-anal tail. Based on other characteristics of the species, these animals are further divided into different subgroups.
