To determine:
The importance of the normal micro biome of the female reproductive tract that helps to maintain a vaginal
Introduction:
The female reproductive system is found near the urinary system. Vulva is the external genitalia in females that open towards the vagina. Vagina is a muscular tract that is attached to the cervix. The lower part of the uterus is called cervix, which is more likely to get infected. The uterus extends to the fallopian tubes and the ovaries. Ovaries stimulate the production of ova, estrogen and progesterone that are important for the growth and regulation of reproductive organs, menstrual cycle control, and for the preparation of uterus for pregnancy.

According to the patient, he had no sexual contact with his partner and had not eaten any spoiled food that might cause his diarrhea. His physician ordered a stool examination and the results were normal and no cyst/ trophozoite of a parasite are seen. A. What might be the possible reason why there are no cysts/trophozoites seen in the stool? Is there a discrepancy? B. What possible actions or additional laboratory tests are needed in this case to rule out the most likely diagnosis if the patient is infected with a parasite? Why? C. Is this caused by a parasitic infection or no? If you were the medical laboratory scientist, how you will handle this situation?arrow_forwardIdentify: 20. How has the advent of molecular testing advanced the detection of sexually transmitted diseases?arrow_forwardThis 35-year-old woman reported that she had experienced three bouts of urticaria of unknown origin about 10 years ago. The urticaria affected her mucous membranes and skin. She had experienced similar symptoms after repair of a fractured femur caused by a skiing accident. These symptoms were attributed to an antibiotic reaction. As an emergency room nurse, she observed occasional localized hives after the use of latex gloves. Even when she used hypoallergenic latex gloves, she continued to have hives every few months. Increased urticaria, at times generalized, continued to occur. Within 30 minutes of having a routine vaginal examination performed by a health care provider wearing latex gloves, she had an anaphylactic reaction that required resuscitation and hospitalization. A vaginal biopsy 1 week later required a latex-free environment for her safety. A short time later, she was forced to retire from nursing because of symptoms of asthma. She had also developed food allergies to…arrow_forward
