Summary Introduction
The cell wall of the Mycobacterium contains an outer membrane and its peptidoglycan layer is present inside the periplasm. Their outer membrane is made of tightly packed mycolic acids that are linked by covalent bonds. This lipid content makes the Mycobacterium acid fast. This lipid is necessary for the virulent nature as well as viability only in mycobacteria.
