Menstruation is a natural process in women which is regulated by several hormones. The length of a menstrual cycle is 28 to 29 days. In the menstrual cycle, the female body prepares both an egg for fertilization and the uterus for a possible pregnancy. If no fertilization occurs, the uterine lining is excreted through the vagina by a process called menstruation.
