Introduction:
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is known as the energy currency of the cell as it provides energy to drive various reactions in the cell. Exergonic reactions release energy, which are used to produce ATP molecules, whereas endergonic reactions need energy, which are obtained from ATP molecules. Anabolism is a process of building up, which requires energy, hence, it is endergonic, whereas catabolism is a process of breaking down, that is, it is an exergonic process.
