Cholera is caused by the bacteria Vibrio cholera. These bacteria secrete a toxin which binds to the small intestine. Generally, the function of the small intestine is to regulate the fluid that is absorbed by the cells of the small intestine. Ingested fluids are absorbed by the small intestine only small amount is excreted in feces. In the certain abnormal conditions, response to the pathogens, cells does not absorb fluid and are excreted in feces.
