Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Shigella is a species which cause dysentery. Shigella is a gram negative, rod-shaped, non-spore forming, non-motile, and facultative anaerobic bacteria belonging to the bacterial genus Shigella. Severe dysentery is caused by the toxin called Shiga toxin. S. dysenteriae is the bacteria which is the common source for the Shiga toxin. This bacteria will lead to hemorrhagic diarrhea and kidney failure.
