Concept Introduction:Practically all of the matter in environment consists of mixtures of different substance. For example, soil; it has many forms of components, air; it has mixture of many gases, etc.A mixture consists of two or more than two different elements or compounds.

The mixture present with a single phase is known as homogeneous and having two or more than two phases is heterogeneous mixture. For example- mixture of sand and water, iron filing and sand etc.
A uniform phase of a mixture is termed as homogeneous mixture. In the homogeneous mixture only similar type of substance are present in a single phase, and they cannot be separate easily. For example − mixture of salt and water, water and alcohol etc.
