Glucagon is a hormone that is very important for maintaining the blood glucose levels. When the blood glucose levels drop, pancreas release glucagon. After its release, it binds to receptors present on liver cells and performs a series of reactions to raise blood glucose levels. This is the reason glucagon is produced by pancreas.
