Interpretation:

By the bonding of the atoms of different elements in cocaine, we can analyse the functional group present in cocaine because the functional group are a group of atoms which are bonded specifically

Concept introduction:

Organic chemistry starts with simple hydrocarbons i.e. the alkanes. An alkane with same number of carbon can have different properties like ethanol shows different properties that the acetic acid although they have same number of carbons that is two. The difference in the properties is due to the presence of different functional group. A functional group is a specific group of atoms or bonds that is responsible for the characteristic chemical reactions of that compound. A particular functional group will show similar reactions.
