Comparing with total body weight the kidneys occupy only 0.4%, yet about 1.2 liters of blood are passed through the kidneys. The main function of the kidney is to remove the waste and pass it in the urine. The kidneys are made up of fundamental units called nephrons. About 1.2 million nephrons are found in each kidney. The two principle parts of nephron are renal corpuscle and renal tubule.
