Concept introduction:
Meristematic tissues or meristems are the most actively growing tissues. The reason for they being the most actively growing tissues is that they have large concentrations of plant hormone called auxins which are responsible for very rapid and highly active rate of cell division. They are present at the tips of growing roots and shoots.
