Introduction:
The lungs are the major organs involved in the respiration and house the structures of both the conducting and respiratory areas. Respiration is a natural process where the exchange of gases occurs inside and out of the lungs. During normal breathing, air enters the lungs during inspiration and air leaves the lungs during expiration. The muscles of inspiration and expiration assist during the breathing process. The principal inspiratory muscles are the diaphragm and the external intercostal muscle, whereas the principal expiratory muscles are the internal intercostal muscle and the subcostals.
