Chapter 22, Problem 2CA
Summary Introduction
To construct:
A table and mention all the steps involved in meiosis.
Introduction:
Meiosis is called reduction division which occurs during gamete formation. It reduces the chromosome number. The chromosome become haploid and is distinct from their parents. In an individual, there are 46 chromosomes out of which 23 are from the mother and 23 from the father. So, the male and female gamete only contains 23 chromosomes that unite to form a zygote which carries 46 chromosomes. Meiosis in cell takes place into two steps such as meiosis I and meiosis II.
Tabular representation:
Table 1:represents the steps that occur during meiosis.
Meiosis I | Meiosis II |
Prophase I

Prophase II |
Metaphase I | Metaphase II |
Anaphase I | Anaphase II |
