Since addition is commutative, it is valid to consider the terms in the brackets and then add 32 to them.

(2) From the previous point, 16 units are to be marked to left corresponding to the number -16. (3) The coordinate in the previous step is at -24. From this point, 32 units are marked to right making the final position to be at 8.
