Summary Introduction
“PVC superphylum” is one among the phyla that are classified under the major phylum Verrucomicrobium. Planctomycetes, Verrucomicrobia, and Chlamydiae and many others. This grouping was done using several phylogenetic markers and observations. All these phyla contain organisms that possess complex internal membranes, carry out sterol synthesis and lack the protein FtsZ. This protein carries out cell division.
