Introduction:

Arteries are defined as the cardiovascular system's afferent vessels, i.e., vessels carrying blood from the heart. Arteries are regarded as the cardiovascular system's resistance vessels because they have a tissue structure that is fairly strong and resistant to high blood pressure. Veins are classified as vessels afferent to carry blood back to the heart. Veins are considered to be the capacitance vessels of the cardiovascular system because they are relatively thin-walled and flaccid and easily expand to carry an increased volume of blood; that is, they have more capacity to store blood than arteries do
