To determine: The difference between swimming and gliding motility.
Introduction: Various types of structures contributes to the motility of bacteria. There are five different methods of movement observed in bacteria: swimming through flagella, flagella-mediated swarming, corkscrew movement of spirochetes, twitching motility with the help of type IV pili and gliding motility. The motility of the bacteria helps them to move towards the nutrients, and away from the harmful substances.
