Introduction:

Soil microbiology involves the study of microbes in the soil, their functions, and how they affect the properties of soil. The water content in the soil determines the soil microbial activities. Any changes in the soil water availability alter the soil microbial communities. There is a high degree of variability in the microbial response to soil moisture as low availability of water can limit the physiological performance of microbes.
