To review:
Whether the following statements are true or false and to correct the false statement making it true.
a. The functional residual capacity is the volume of air normally left in the lungs after a tidal expiration.
b. The tidal volume is the amount of air left in the lungs after a maximal expiration.
c. The inspiratory capacity is equal to the vital capacity plus the tidal volume.
d. The vital capacity is the total amount of exchangeable air.
Introduction:
The process of measuring the amount of air exchanged by a person during breathing determines the status of the pulmonary function of a person. With the help of an instrument named spirometer, the normal and forceful inhalation and exhalation of air bya person are measured. In this process, three types of volumes can be measured namely tidal volume, inspiratory and expiratory reserve volumes.
