Chitin: It is a polysaccharide outer covering that is present in arthropods and cell walls of some fungi.

Hypha: It is a filamentous structure that makes up the mycelium of the fungi.

Mycelium: It is a vegetative part of fungi and fungi like colonies, which consist of a mass of thread-like hyphae.

Fruiting body: It is a part of a fungus that produces spores and is found generally in toadstools. It is also called sarcocarp.

Septum: In fungi, hyphae are divided into cells by internal cross-walls.

Haustorium: it is a highly modified root or stem of a parasitic plant. In fungi, it is a specialized branch, which originates from hyphae of a fungus.

Spore: The spore can be defined as a reproductive structure that is capable of giving rise to a new individual. The spore is diploid in nature and is generally associated with asexual reproduction of the fungi, plants and bacteria.

Sporangium: It is a vessel shaped structure in which spores are formed.
