Summary Introduction

Case summary:Person W worked for company C. On Monday W told her supervisor that she was sick and was unable to perform her duty but she skipped to convey that the sickness was due to pregnancy. On Tuesday she called and asked from her reporting place but was told instead that she can only join after doctor’s release. W told her supervisor that the doctor’s appointment was on Wednesday, which the supervisor decoded as the next day but she meant the following Wednesday. For over a week, W did not contact her employer and, therefore, was fired. W filed a case in federal district court under FMLA (Family and medical leave) act against C. Eligibility condition of FMLA states that the employer must be informed about any leave by the employee.
