The term snRNPs has to be defined, and the manner in that they are able to facilitate RNA splicing has to be determined.
Concept Introduction:
RNA splicing is a very significant post-translational modification; however, it must be done with high fidelity. The particles that assist in such precise RNA splicing are called spliceosomes.
If excess or a very small amount of RNA is removed from the transcript then the mRNA will not be able to carry the correct code for the protein. Therefore there are certain signals that serve to demarcate the boundaries for the introns. Identification of such splice boundaries and stability to the splicing complex is conferred by means of particles that are termed as the spliceosome.
