Concept Introduction:
Chlorinated hydrocarbons high effect on the nervous system of the insect which helps in control of insects population. These compounds are less toxic as compared to other hydrocarbons likes organophosphates or carbamate. Chlorinated hydrocarbons are soluble in fat and oils. They do not degrade easily. They remain in the environment for a longer period of time. Example of chlorinated hydrocarbon is dichlordiphenyltrichlorethan (DDT).
