Ribulose 1, 5-bisphosphate carboxylase/ oxygenase is abbreviated as Rubisco. This enzyme participates in the carbon fixation process where the inorganic or atmospheric carbon dioxide is converted to energy rich molecules like glucose by the plants and other photosynthetic organisms. Rubisco is one of the enzymes of the Calvin cycle.
