Chapter 2, Problem 9MCQ
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

All living individuals are encompassed with water and biomolecules. Based on size and weight, biomolecules are divided into two types: micromolecules and macromolecules. There are four types of macromolecules namely carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids, and lipids. These are formed by polymerization of smaller units called monomers.

Among the four major biomolecules, carbohydrates are quite simple. Carbohydrates are divided into two groups: simple and complex sugars. Proteins are complex structure and it is made up of amino acids that form polypeptide chains. The nucleic acid is made up of nucleotides. DNA and RNA are the two types of nucleic acids. Lipids are not polymers but hydrophobic in nature, for example, butter and oil.
