Interpretation:

The type of atomic orbital in which the lone pair of given molecules contained should be identified.

Concept introduction:

Lone pairs of the molecules are electron pairs which do not participate in the sigma bonding of the molecule. And it may or may not participate in pi-bonding.

It depends on which atomic orbital contains the lone pairs. Lone pairs of p-orbital can participate in the delocalization of molecule. Whereas lone pairs in hybridized orbital cannot participates in delocalization.
